Party leader receives Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Indian and Lao parliamentarians

(VOVworld) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong received Monday a delegation from the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), led by a member of the CPP’s Standing Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam On.

Mr. Trong said that the two countries should increase cooperation in information sharing and education and communication on the traditional friendship between the two Parties, states, and peoples. He also called for stronger cooperation in fighting slanderous distortions against the CPP and Vietnam that could hinder friendship between the two countries. He added that Vietnam prioritized consolidating friendship and comprehensive cooperation with the CPP and Cambodia.

Ngo Van Du, Secretary of the Party Central Committee also held talks with the Cambodian delegation, during which both sides discussed ways to promote cooperation between the two Parties and countries in the coming years. They also signed a cooperative agreement for the 2015-2016 period.


The same day, Mr. Trong received the President of India’s Lower House Sumitra Mahajan. He said that Vietnam treasured its traditional friendship and strategic partnership with India and supported India’s Look-East policy and its rising role in the region and the world. Mr. Trong asked both sides to make the most of existing cooperative mechanisms and establish new ones to boost bilateral cooperation.    

Mr. Trong praised cooperation between Vietnam and Laos at a reception for Laos’ National Assembly chairwoman Pany Yathotou in Hanoi the same day. He called for strengthened cooperation between the two countries’ national assemblies and agencies in the sharing of information and experience in legislation and supervision. He also called for mutual support and coordination at international forums, particularly regional and international parliamentary forums.
