(VOVworld) - National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on Saturday received visiting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Hanoi. Hung expressed his belief that the visit will help boost bilateral ties. The NA Chairman spoke highly of the talks between President Ahmadinejad and Vietnamese leaders of the Party, State and Government. He reiterated Vietnam’s unswerving policy of treasuring the traditional friendship with Iran.

On Friday, Ahmadinejad was received by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong who expressed his pleasure at the development of Vietnam-Iran relationship in recent times. Trong said he hopes that both countries will increase the exchange of delegations to strengthen cooperation in economics and trade, and expand it to other areas such as culture and education in order to promote mutual understanding. Ahmadinejad affirmed that Iran wants to develop the traditional relations and boost cooperation in all areas, especially economics and trade, with Vietnam. Iran will further support Vietnam at multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, he said.

The same day, the Iranian President was received by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who said that the President’s visit will contribute to further cementing the relations between the two nations.
