Speaking at a meeting of the banking sector to implement tasks for 2021 in Hanoi on Saturday, the Prime Minister said that this year the banking industry as the national economy’s artery actively responded to the COVID-19 epidemic and natural disasters with flexible monetary policy, contributing to maintaining macro-economic stability, controlling inflation, and boosting growth. Credit growth reached nearly 11% in 2020.

The Prime Minister asked the banking industry to calculate credit growth in 2021 as credit is still an important channel for Vietnam’s development and called for fine-tuning the monetary, credit and banking institutions in accordance with the requirements of development. He urged the sector to achieve the goal of having a number of commercial banks in the top list of the largest, best quality and most effective banks in the region.
