(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on Thursday asked deputies to assess the current situation and decide on goals, indicators, and key solutions for next year’s socio-economic development.

Addressing the opening of the 15th National Assembly’s 4th session in Hanoi on Thursday, Mr Hue said that during the 21-day session the legislature will hear and discuss reports on the socio-economic situation this year, the socio-economic development plan for 2023, the outcomes of public investment this year, and the investment plan for next year.
The legislature will consider and approve seven draft laws and three draft resolutions, and are expected to discuss seven other bills. A Q&A session will be held with several Government officials, and reports on anti-corruption work and enforcement in 2022 will be reviewed.
The National Assembly will conduct an oversight review of the implementation of policies and laws on thrift and waste prevention in the 2016-2021 period.
The Assembly will dismiss and elect the State Auditor General, dismiss and approve the appointment of the Minister of Transport, and approve the appointment of the Minister of Health.
NA Chairman Hue said, “Promoting the successes of the 6th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, which put forward important decisions detailing many of the core issues of the 13th Party Congress’s Resolution, this meeting must spread the spirit of the Party Central Committee’s conference and make the right decisions on legislation, oversight, and major national issues.”

PM Pham Minh Chinh presented a report on the socio-economic plan implementation in 2022 and a plan for next year. He said that despite many unforeseen difficulties, Vietnam has still achieved positive results.
According to Mr. Chinh, “Growth recovery was seen in all 3 economic sectors in the past 9 months. The GDP growth rate for the whole year is predicted to reach 8%, exceeding the set target of between 6 and 6.5% and creating momentum to reach other growth targets set in the 5-year plan until 2025.”
He said Vietnam gives priority to maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, promoting growth, ensuring major balances of the economy, and effectively controlling diseases.
Vietnam is trying to improve the internal capacity, self-control, resilience, and adaptability of the economy and consolidate and develop new growth drivers.
Next year Vietnam aims to achieve GDP growth of 6.5%, an unemployment rate in urban areas of less than 4%, and a Consumer Price Index increase of about 4.5%.
To that end, according to Mr Chinh, the government will carefully adjust interest rates and exchange rates; ensure sufficient credit capital for production, business, and high-priority areas; and help individuals and businesses obtain credit capital.
