PM urges Vietnam, Russia to raise trade turnover to 10 billion USD
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Wednesday said Vietnam and Russia need to raise bilateral trade to 10 billion USD soon, adding that economic cooperation between the two countries has seen positive developments with trade turnover increasing from 2.5 billion USD in 2014 to 4.5 billion USD last year.

Receiving outgoing Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vnukov in Hanoi on Wednesday, the Prime Minister applauded the Ambassador's contributions to further strengthening Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Prime Minister Phuc emphasized that the two countries have highly reliable political relations, with regular exchange of delegations at all levels, via all channels of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly. He welcomed the Speaker of State Duma (House of Representatives) to visit Vietnam and hold an Inter-Parliamentary Conference with the National Assembly of Vietnam later this year. The Prime Minister also expressed wishes to welcome the Russian President and Prime Minister to Vietnam.
As ASEAN Chair in 2020, Vietnam continues to support and promote the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership, Prime Minister Phuc said.
Ambassador Vnukov said Russia fully supports Vietnam during the ASEAN Year 2020, believing that Vietnam will accomplish its tasks in the best way. ASEAN is one of the priorities for Russia's cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and Vietnam is ASEAN’s leader in economic and trade ties with Russia.
According to the Ambassador, Vietnam has responded very well to the COVID-19 and Russia wishes to support Vietnam in epidemic prevention, including vaccines.
