Poet Lam Thi My Da dies, aged 75

(VOVWORLD) - Lam Thi My Da, a well-known poet of  Vietnam, died on Thursday in her home in Ho Chi Minh city at the age of 75.

Born in 1949 in Quang Binh, Da became a member of the Vietnam Writers’ Association in 1978.

In 1971, at the age of 22, she won the first prize of the Arts and Literature newspaper for her poem “Bomb crater sky”, marking her name in the Vietnamese literature.

In 2007, she was presented with the State Award for Literature and Art for three collections of poems.

A collection of Lam Thi My Da's 56 poems titled “Com Non” (Green Rice) was translated into English and published in the US by Curbstone Publisher in 2005.

Her funeral will be held this Sunday.
