Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Friday chaired a Politburo meeting on a project to review the 10-year implementation of a resolution on the orientations and tasks for the development of Ho Chi Minh City until 2020 and 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The Politburo said that after 10 years of implementing the Resolution, Ho Chi Minh City has recorded major achievements in socio-economic development, defense and security. From 2010 to 2020, the city's economic size increased 2.7 times, the city's GRDP per capita doubled.

The Politburo set the goal that by 2030 Ho Chi Minh City will become a service city with modern industry, the locomotive in digital economy and digital society, and the economic, financial, commercial, scientific, technological and cultural center of Southeast Asia. By 2045 it will become an economic, financial and service center of Asia, an attractive global destination with unique developed economy, culture, and high quality of life.
