(VOVworld) – The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will hold the 11^th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union from July 27^th to 30^th in Hanoi. 950 delegates and 7 delegations of international guests will attend the event.

Discussions at the congress will focus on trade unions and social activities and their involvement in poverty reduction and social welfare programs. It is worth noting that for the first time, representatives from the Ly Son fishing association in Quang Ngai province will attend the event. Hoang Ngoc Thanh is Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. He said: “The participation of the Ly Son fishing association is of political and social significance as it will represent the voice of fishermen from other associations nationwide. This is also an effort to raise our voice among the international fishing associations.”

Thanh said the central task of the Labor Confederation in the new era will be improving its external relations in a creative and effective way. The Labor Confederation will participate in more international forums and the activities of international trade unions and workers’ movements.
