President hopes for advanced Vietnam-Russia relationship

(VOVWORLD) - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to pay an official visit to Russia from November 29 to December 2, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. This will be Phuc’s first official visit to Russia as the Vietnamese President.

In an interview with Sputnik ahead of his visit to Russia, President Phuc highlighted the development of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic ties in the last 71 years. He said Russia is one of the first countries he has visited in his capacity as the head of the Vietnamese State. Phuc said the visit demonstrates the importance that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people attach to bilateral ties between the two countries as well as to President Putin, a close friend of Vietnamese people.

According to President Phuc, he and President Putin will review Vietnam-Russia relations and seek major strategic orientations to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership to a new height across spheres.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his hope that his upcoming visit to Russia will contribute to creating new momentum and breakthroughs to further deepen the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. He also wishes to meet the practical interests of both peoples and contribute to peace, stability, and development.

Before Russia, the Vietnamese President will visit Switzerland from November 25 to 29.
