The White House’s website on Thursday said that Knapper has been named among nine nominations for various ambassador positions abroad, including in Vietnam.

He is currently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Korea and Japan Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the US Department of State. His previous diplomatic experience has come at numerous US embassies in the Republic of Korea, Japan, India, and Iraq. He can speak Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese.
