President Obama’s visit to deepen Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership

(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama will pay four-day official visit to Vietnam from this Sunday. In an interview with VOV, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the US, Pham Quang Vinh, said the relationship between Vietnam and the US have developed in all fields from politics, security, defense, to science and technology, education, people-to-people exchanges, and international issues of mutual concern.

Economically, two-way trade has reached 45 billion USD, 20 times greater than 20 years ago. Ambassador Vinh said that President Obama’s visit will deepen the two countries’ relationship.

“The two countries have lots of cooperative potential. I strongly believe that following the visit, the economy will develop further while cooperation in science, technology, and education will increase. Both sides have shown interest in people-to-people exchanges and global cooperation on climate change, maritime security, and the environment. Apolitical trust and economic development will provide momentum for further bilateral comprehensive partnership,” according to Ambassador Vinh.

He said Vietnamese leaders and President Obama will discuss international issues of mutual concerns including the East Sea.
