President receives foreign ambassadors presenting credentials

(VOVWORLD) -President Luong Cuong on Monday received ambassadors from Greece, Colombia, Panama, Liberia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Portugal, and Tanzania who presented their credentials to assume their duties in Vietnam.

Meeting Greek Ambassador Antonios Papakostas, the President asked him to push the signing of cooperation agreements in areas of mutual interest to Vietnam and Greece like labor, maritime transport, and tax. The two countries need to continue to effectively tap the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), Mr. Cuong said and expressed his hope that Greece would urge other EU countries to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and support the European Commission (EC) in lifting its "yellow card" warning against Vietnamese seafood.

At the meeting with Colombian Ambassador Camila Maria Poko Florez, President Cuong applauded Colombia for successfully hosting the 2024 Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit. He said he hopes that Colombia would cooperate closely with Vietnam to successfully host this year's P4G and send a high-level delegation to attend the P4G Summit in Hanoi in April.

Receiving Panamanian Ambassador Nubiela Yanarith Ayala Modes, the President stated that Vietnam wishes to promote cooperation with Panama in areas where both sides have strengths, such as agriculture, maritime transport, aviation and logistics, finance and banking. He stressed the need to jointly organize activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations (August 28).

The same day, President Luong Cuong received six other ambassadors concurrently in charge of Vietnam, including Ambassador of Liberia, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo; Ambassador of the Republic of Congo; Ambassador of Burundi; Ambassador of Portugal; Ambassador of Tanzania, who came to present their credentials. The President said Vietnam always wants to boost across-the-board cooperation with the countries that the ambassadors represent.
“Given the global complexity today, we believe and hope that by working together in multilateral forums and addressing global issues, we can build a world of peace and development, a fair political and economic order based on the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law,” President Cuong said.
