(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang received the outgoing US ambassador to Vietnam David Shear in Hanoi on Wednesday. He praised the ambassador’s mission, which had contributed significantly to boosting relations between Vietnam and the US. He was appreciative of US support for Vietnam since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1995. President Truong Tan Sang asked both countries to increase the exchange of high-level delegations and invited President Barack Obama to visit Vietnam when both nations celebrate the 20th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral diplomatic ties next year. As Defense Secretary Assistant when he returns to the US, ambassador David Shear said he would continue to promote relations between the two countries. He also expressed his belief that his successor would fulfill his diplomatic mission during his term.
