Speaking at the function, President Vo Van Thuong highlighted the strong development of bilateral ties which he said is truly a model in the history of international relations in terms of healing and building post-war relations. This result is attributed to the joint efforts to overcome the challenges and historical ups and downs of many generations of leaders and peoples of the two countries.

President Vo Van Thuong strongly believes that by continuing the long history of Vietnam‑US relations, with mutual trust, understanding and respect, the Vietnam‑US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development established during President Joe Biden’s visit will develop strongly and substantially.

US President Joe Biden emphasized that the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development to move forward together, deal with challenges together, and embrace the future together.

Earlier the same day, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue hosted a meeting with US President Joe Biden where he proposed that the United States soon complete procedures to recognize Vietnam as a market economy and continue to allocate resources to overcome the consequences of war, an indispensable area for the process of healing, building and strengthening mutual trust, mutual understanding, and mutual respect between the two states and two peoples.

The two leaders shared that the legislatures of both sides have been playing a very important role in healing, building, consolidating trust, strengthening cooperation and elevating the relationship between the two countries.

They witnessed the Vietnam Veterans Association and the Ministry of National Defense and the similar United States organizations, both handing over war memorabilia to each other, an action with profound symbolism and acknowledgement of humanity.
