According to the ambassador, the visit takes place after President To Lam took office and at a time when the two countries have just celebrated the 57th anniversary of their diplomatic ties (June 24) with a series of friendly activities. This once again confirms Vietnam's consistent policy of developing relations with neighboring countries, including Cambodia. The Ambassador said that in-person meetings and exchanges between the two countries’ leaders have resulted in many strategic agreements.

Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang said “In that spirit, I believe that President To Lam's visit to Cambodia has a significant and profound meaning, and will be a milestone to cultivate and deepen the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia in line with the motto of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation, and keeping solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia last forever.”

Ambassador Tang said that during his two-day visit to Cambodia, President To Lam will meet with the highest-ranking leaders of Cambodia, including King Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sodary and Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet. The two sides will evaluate the friendly relationship in the past and work out future measures.

President To Lam will meet with the Cambodian alumni who studied in Vietnam and students of Royal University of Phnom Penh.
