The bank has 160 branches and affiliates, 1,000 transaction offices across the country and 3 overseas branches. By late 2012, VietinBank’s assets exceed 503 trillion VND with an average growth rate of 34% over the past 25 years. The bank has always taken the lead in implementing policies on social security and welfare.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung urged VietinBank to closely uphold the 11th National Party Congress’ solution on the socio-economic development strategy for the period of 2011 to 2020 and the 5-year plan for 2011-2015. "The Vietnam Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade should drastically overhaul its organization so that it can be a large scale commercial bank that operates safely and effectively, has an advanced managerial capacity, and is able to be high competitive both domestically and internationally. Together with the other state-owned commercial banks, VietinBank should consolidate its central role in Vietnam’s system of credit organizations."

Prime Minister Dung asked the banking sector to strictly combine their monetary and fiscal policies to stabilize the macro-economy, curb inflation, and pro-actively manage monetary policies in line with market developments to achieve this year’s credit growth rate target of 12%.

On behalf of the Party and State, the Prime Minister conferred the Labor Hero title and Labor Order, 1st Class, on the Vietnam Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade.
