The figure reduced to 4.25% in 2015 under old criteria. If Vietnam applies the multidimensional poverty criteria, Vietnam has about 2.3 million poor households, equivalent to 10%.
Prime Minister Phuc suggests measures to obtain the target of poor household ratio reduction by 1.5% per year from now to 2020: “It’s necessary to engage the whole society in supporting the poor and encourage poor people to strive to escape poverty by themselves. A nation, a locality, and a person needs to raise the sense of self-improvement to work hard to become better-off.”

Prime Minister Phuc, who is head of the Central Committee for Emulation and Rewards, launched the movement “The whole country works for the poor – no one is left behind.”
