Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping

(VOVWORLD) -Welcoming Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping on his state visit to Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday emphasized the shared perceptions reached between the two General Secretaries during this visit, especially establishing a new positioning for the two countries' relationship, building a "Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance."

The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will work with the Chinese State Council to strengthen coordination and urge all levels, sectors and localities to concretize high-level achievements and shared perceptions. He raised a number of proposals on the direction and focus of cooperation, including strengthening strategic exchanges, close exchanges at high levels and all levels, promoting the important role of defense and security cooperation, improving the effectiveness of substantial cooperation, coordinating and supporting each other in multilateral frameworks.
The PM proposed that China continue to expand imports of Vietnamese goods, agricultural and aquatic products; boost investment in Vietnam, especially in high technology, green transformation, and strategic infrastructure construction; completely resolve problems in a number of backlog projects; accelerate the implementation of non-refundable aid projects, expand financial and monetary cooperation; study the establishment of a working group to promote tourism restoration between the two countries; strengthen local and people-to-people exchanges.
General Secretary and President Xi agreed with the opinions of Prime Minister Chinh, affirming that China and Vietnam are important partners of each other. He suggested that the two sides accelerate strategic connectivity and effectively deploy the cooperation plan connecting Two Corridors, One Belt with the Belt and Road initiative.
Xi proposed a number of focuses. First, jointly support and promote economic and trade recovery, including agricultural trade; China is ready to expand imports of high-quality goods and agricultural products from Vietnam. Second, strengthen cooperation to maintain security and stabilize social order; expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges. Third, strengthen coordination at multilateral forums, together promote the building of a fair and open international order. Fourth, strictly implement high-level agreements and shared perceptions, adequately control and handle differences, and jointly maintain peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and the world.
