Prime Minister visits Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung worked with the authority of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on the province’s socio-economic situation on Monday. The Prime Minister asked the province to give priority to reducing poverty, especially among ethnic minorities.
He urged the provincial authorities to take advantage of its forestry and agricultural land for development. He encouraged local lenders to apply science and technology to raise productivity and competitiveness of goods.
Mr. Dung said it is essential to restructure the agriculture associated with new rural development, and to develop healthcare, culture, education, vocational training and jobs for rural workers. The Prime Minister attended the inauguration of a new program designed to establish and clarify Vietnam’s sea and land sovereignty in Pleiku city.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung visited local people and armed forces in Sa Thay district, the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on Monday.

He asked the provincial Party committee, administration and local armed forces to strive more to carry out socio-economic development tasks, improve residents’ living conditions, and consolidate security and defense to build a Vietnam-Cambodia border of peace, cooperation and friendship: "Sa Thay should be divided into Northern and Southern districts. This will help in better management, demography and sustainable socio-economic development. Demography needs to be implemented first among ethnic minority people". 

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also attended a ceremony to announce the Government’s decree to establish new districts: Ia Dom, Ia Toi and Ia Dal.
