Themed “My homeland’s border”, the event is part of activities to mark the 64th anniversary of the Border Guard’s Traditional Day, March 3, and for Youth Month 2023.

The program aims to promote communications and education for Youth Union members and other young people about the tradition, love of the nation, and the youth’s responsibility for national islands and border sovereignty and security in the new situation.

Focus will be on social security activities under which the youth will undertake the tasks in maintaining security and defense, socio-economic development, setting up border protection forces, and taking care of and helping disadvantaged people in border areas across the country.

On the first day of the program’s launch, the Vietnam Youth Union of border provinces and cities presented gifts to policy households and students in difficult circumstances, lighted up roads in border areas, and built new schools and toilets.

Addressing the launch ceremony at Chi Ma border crossing in Lang Son province, Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Secretary of the Youth Union, and President of the Vietnam Youth Federation, called on young people, with their enthusiasm and responsibility, to participate in many specific activities so that the ‘March of Border’ program will be successful.

“Particularly, through the program, young people can be more mature in all aspects. Thus, the event is truly meaningful for every young person,” said Luong.

The month-long “March of Border” program is held annually in border communes nationwide.
