Program to improve Vietnamese people’s physical strength, stature

(VOVworld) – Vietnamese Sports Authority has launched a program to develop the physical strength and stature of Vietnamese people.

Known as master-plan 641 and approved by the Prime Minister 3 years ago, the program aims to improve the quality of the labor workforce and improve Vietnamese people’s life expectancy.

Lam Quang Thanh is Deputy Chief of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and Head of the plan’s coordination board.  He spoke at a press briefing on Tuesday: “The master plan consists of various components and will be conducted nationwide, mainly benefiting pupils and students. The first program is a scientific research conducted by the Ministry of Health. The second program focuses on nutrition and the application of nutrition at schools which will be combined with other programs on maternal care and reproductive health, and care for disadvantaged children. The third program, piloted in 12 key provinces and cities, studies ways to improve physical education for students. The fourth program will involve all economic sectors in improving the physical strength and stature of Vietnamese people.”

During the official launching ceremony this Friday, awards will be given to winners of a logo, slogan, and theme song for the movement.
