(VOVWORLD) - Defeated by the Vietnamese football team in the semi-finals of the AFC U23 Championship in China, Qatar’s U23 squad was sent off before the final round.

Addressing a press conference after the match on Tuesday in China, coach Felix Sanchez of Qatar said the Vietnamese team was a strong rival and though the Qatar team were defeated, he was proud of their performance and believes in their future. The Qatar coach praised Vietnam’s head coach Park Hang Seo and his players.
He said Qatar’s players gave their best effort but Vietnam has talented players who shone at the right moments. He singled out midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai and goal keeper Bui Tien Dung.
