(VOVworld) – A seminar was held in Hanoi on Tuesday to discuss the renovation of the People’s Court in the interests of judicial reform. Participants said that over the past 8 years of reforming judicial activities from 2005, the organization and operations of courts have gradually improved. The court system has been strengthened with an enhanced line-up of judges and staff. Doctor Pham Quy Ty, former Deputy Minister of Justice, highlighted the need “to change the way we select, appoint, and dismiss judges. It has been recommended that we establish a national judicial council but I think we only need to change the council to appoint and dismiss judges. It’s also necessary to outline a more stringent treatment mechanism for judges and issue a code of conduct so that people can monitor their activities.
