(VOVworld) – Pyeongchang city in the Republic of Korea will host the 23rd Winter Olympic Games in 2018, according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Republic of Korea will be the 2nd Asian country, after Japan, to host the Winter Games. Japan hosted the 1972 and 1998 Winter Olympic Games. The Korean government approved the construction or upgrade of sports venues in Pyeongchang to create 13 qualified sports venues as required by the IOC.
