On the occasion, President Moon granted an interview to the Vietnam News Agency on the relationship between the two countries and peace on the Korean peninsula. Mr. Moon said he intends to lift the strategic cooperative partnership between the Republic of Korea and Vietnam to new heights. He added that since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, the Republic of Korea and Vietnam have worked together to achieve remarkable progress on all fronts, including politics, the economy, culture and people-to-people exchanges. Through his state visit this time, he intends to further deepen friendship and trust with the Vietnamese leadership. Furthermore, he plans to meet with Vietnamese business leaders, people from Korean-Vietnamese bicultural families and ordinary Vietnamese citizens, with a view to expanding common ground between the two peoples and further cementing friendship. President Moon said that the two key phrases that he has in relation to economic cooperation between the two nations are "mutually beneficial cooperation" and "cooperation for common future growth."
