Russia announces final result of State Duma election

(VOVworld) – Russia’s Central Election Commission has certified the final result of the election of the lower house of the Russian parliament, the State Duma.

The Russian TASS news agency reported that 15 members of the Commission signed the final election result, according to which the United Russia Party won 343 of 450 seats. The Communist Party won 42 seats, followed by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia with 39 seats and A Just Russia with 23 seats. Non-parliamentary representatives, including President of the Fatherland Party Alexei Zuravlev, Riphat Shaikhuidinov and independent candidate Vladislav Reznik also won in the State Duma election. The United Russia Party’s majority in the election meant it can lead the State Duma in the new term without allying with any other party.
