(VOVworld) – A workshop on establishing a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Vietnam took place at the Institute of Eastern Studies under the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) on Monday.

This is the first workshop in Russia following the signing of a Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Vietnam on May 29. The event attracted representatives from Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development, the Eurasian Economic Commission, Vietnam’s Trade Office in Russia, the Vietnamese Business Association in Russia, and a number of entrepreneurs, scholars and scientists. Participants discussed the FTA’s content, tariff reduction schedule, legal framework, FTA’s role in boosting trade between Vietnam and EAEU, economic benefits and the political and geopolitical significance of the FTA.
