(VOVworld) - The Russian Justice Ministry says it has not received any request from the United States to extradite former CIA agent Edward Snowden. 


Michael McFaul, Russian Ambassador to the US, confirmed that the US has not requested Russia to extradite Snowden but wanted the US surveillance whistleblower to voluntarily return home.
The statement was released while the Russian business daily Kommersant said that Washington had previously sent an official document to Moscow requesting Snowden's extradition. Meanwhile, the US Senate is drafting a bill of new sanctions directed toward any country that gives Snowden asylum.
