Russian President begins state visit to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Hanoi on Wednesday night, starting a state visit to Vietnam.

Following an official welcome ceremony scheduled for Thursday’s noon, President Putin and Vietnamese leaders will discuss orientations for the comprehensive strategic partnership between the 2 countries until 2030 and clarify key areas for cooperation, from economics, trade, national security and defense to technology and people-to-people diplomacy to ensure sustainable and effective bilateral ties in the future.

“There is ample room for further development of the long-standing Vietnam-Russia relations. During President Putin’s visit, the two countries’ leaders will discuss ways to promote cooperation, particularly in trade and investment,” Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia, Dang Minh Khoi said.

This is Mr. Putin’s 5th visit to Vietnam as Russian President. The ongoing visit holds an extremely important significance as the two countries are striving to realize their joint statement on the comprehensive strategic partnership vision to 2030.
