Putin takes the top spot for his contributions to Russian development, the settlement of Middle East and Ukraine issues, and the establishment of the Customs Union.
The second most powerful person in the world is US President Barack Obama. His influence was stymied both by the West African Ebola breakout and the Islamic State.
The third spot is secured by Chinese President Xi Jinping, followed by Pope Francis and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
