Russian President visits Kursk, orders troops to liberate this region

(VOVWORLD) -Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday visited the western Russian region of Kursk for the first time since the Ukrainian army incursion.

According to the Russian state news agency TASS on Thursday, Putin said during a visit to a command post of Kursk combat group that the Russian army must defeat the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region as soon as possible and then establish a regional security zone. He said he believes the region will be fully liberated soon. 

Valery Gerasimov, head of the Russian General Staff and First Deputy Minister of Defense, told Putin that Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region are now surrounded.

Putin asked commanders to convey his gratitude to every soldier taking part in the Kursk operations.
