Ass.Prof.Dr Vladimir Mazyrin, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Science, said he was very impressed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s speech on the global political situation. Ass.Prof.Dr. Mazyrin who is also Director of the Centre for Vietnamese and ASEAN studies, told a Russia-based VOV correspondent that Dung’s speech brought into focus Vietnam’s achievements, initiatives, and messages regarding global issues.
Prime Minister Dung highlighted the importance of building strategic trust in consolidating peace and resolving disputes in the world. Mr. Mazyrin said: "Prime Minister Dung’s speech mentioned regional and international peace and security. Vietnam’s views and message are fair. Vietnam’s principles and view on building strategic trust, and culture in international relations, and dialogues between big and small countries are absolutely correct. The view was raised at the Shangri-la Dialogue and has been further developed. Vietnam is a typical model in implementing this view in international relations."

Mr. Mazyrin praised Mr. Dung for mentioning the world’s major issues of increasing gap between the rich and the poor and environmental risks. He said Vietnam has important achievements in the global development program, especially in poverty reduction. Vietnam has succeeded, after 25 years of renewal, in bringing its poverty rate down from 47% in 1990 to 22% in 2010.
