Sanofi invests in $75ml pharmaceutical plant in Vietnam

(VOVworld) - French pharmaceutical company Sanofi has introduced its plan to build a new plant in Ho Chi Minh city’s hi-tech park. Sanofi’s CEO Christopher Viehbacher said this 75-million USD plant would be the biggest of its three plants in Vietnam.

He appreciated Vietnam’s potential for development and this investment is part of Sanofi’s global strategy to meet the increasing demand in Vietnam and for export to other Asian countries. He committed Sanofi to creating opportunities for Vietnamese people to access high-quality products at reasonable prices. The plant is scheduled to operate in 2015 and will begin to sell products a year later.

Sanofi has been in Vietnam since 1960. Last year, it took the lead in Vietnam’s pharmaceutical market with 4% market share.
