Scores of original documents from Dien Bien Phu campaign unveiled

(VOVWORLD) - A number of original documents and records about the Dien Bien Phu campaign and the 1954 Geneva Conference were made public for the first time on Friday. They feature the preparations for the campaign, its developments, results, significance, among others.

“We are introducing documents from the opening of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, including both Vietnamese as well as foreign archives. Visitors can now see the guiding documents of Vietnam’s Party, the Government, President Ho Chi Minh and the historical evolution of the Dien Bien Phu campaign,” said Tran Viet Hoa, Director of Hanoi-based National Archives Center No.3 under the State Records and Archives Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The archives about the 1954 Geneva Conference also highlight international opinions, the stances and viewpoints of the parties concerned, and foreign friends’ support for Vietnam.
