They made the call at a seminar on Saturday in Ho Chi Minh City jointly organized by the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National University of Ho Chi Minh City.

Participants heard 14 reports and had discussions with 12 experts, which outlined the training situation and the need for change in training and application of study results. According to experts, Vietnam has a good national strategy for materials industry but lacks investment and facilitation for its implementation.

Tran Tuan Anh, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, said, “We are entering a very important new stage of development, which requires innovation in mindset and action. Vietnam is in need of national industrial development amid increasingly intense and extensive international competition with the implementation of new generation free trade agreements and the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This requires Vietnam to have a new mindset and approach in human resources development for the materials industry.”
