(VOVworld)- A shooting took place on Friday morning near the US Capitol building in Washington D.C. A woman’s car entered the restricted area in front of the White house and was stopped by security guards. While arguing with police, the woman suddenly reversed the car, stuck the barricade and drove away. Police cars immediately pursued the woman toward the Capitol building. When the driver tried to escape, the police opened fire. Michael McCaul, a Republican congressman, said he was told the woman was killed. A 2-year-old baby was pulled from the car uninjured. The shooting occurred while congressmen were discussing a way to resume government activities after 2 days of partial shutdown. The case was described as a non-terrorist incident. Two weeks ago, 13 were killed in a mass shooting near the US naval base in Washington. US security forces say they have been working without salary due to the government shut down.
