Solutions sought for Vietnam's semiconductor, smart manufacturing

(VOVWORLD) -The annual program called Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2024 is seeking to honor solutions that improve semiconductor value chain, packaging, and testing, as well as prioritize applications in AI and solutions that use AI to support business creation, development, and productivity.

The program was announced by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the National Innovation Centre and US tech giant Meta Group in Hanoi on Monday.

Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong, said: “We now have advantages in the semiconductor industry, including attracting foreign businesses in information technology, and electronics to lay foundations in Vietnam. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a fundamental field of the 4th Industrial Revolution, predicted to contribute trillions of dollars to the global economy. Vietnam has taken strong steps in promoting research applications, developing human resources for AI and mastering a number of basic technologies according to the development roadmap. The Vietnamese Government has issued the National Strategy on research, development and application of AI until 2030.”

Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2024 will run until the end of October with major timelines. From March to mid-August, consultation and reception of applications will be provided. The preliminary round will take place until the end of August. In September and October, the organizing committee will evaluate the solutions and conduct testing. At the end of October, the winning solutions will be honored.

Winning solutions are eligible for prizes totaling 300,000 USD and support in surveying foreign markets, getting access to co-working spaces and laboratories, expanding markets, piloting solutions in localities across Vietnam, and developing a brand image on advertising platforms.
