Spratly Archipelago’s sovereignty steles to become national monuments

(VOVworld) The Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognize sovereignty steles in the Spratly Islands as national monuments. The steles placed by generations of Vietnamese affirm the Spratly Archipelago belongs to Vietnam. Khanh Hoa province planned to repair the sovereignty steles and make them tourist attractions after the steles were official recognized as provincial relics in 2011. Nguyen Van Thich, Vice Director of the Khanh Hoa Relic Management Center, said:The Spratly Archipelago’s residents and soldiers have protected the steles from degradation. Khanh Hoa and Navy Region 4 have helped to repair the steles which prove Vietnam’s sovereignty over the archipelago.
