Spring festivals take place nationwide

(VOVworld)-The Tich Dien or King’s Ploughing Festival opened in Doi Son Commune, Duy Tien District, Ha Nam Province on Saturday. The festival originated from the fact that on a spring day in the 10th century King Le Dai Hanh went to plough a field to encourage people to work diligently. After over 1,000 years, the old festival was reproduced right in the field where King Le Dai Hanh had ploughed. Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan joined local people in a ritual to pray for good weather and bumper crop. Secretary of Ha Nam province’s Party organization, Tran Xuan Loc: “The Tich Dien Doi Son festival has been a major cultural spotlight with historical and modern values. The festival encourages local farmers to promote intensive farming and apply science and technology in production. the new rural area program has been implemented widely with community participation.”

The Huong (Perfume) pagoda festival in Hanoi’s suburban district of My Duc officially opened with the theme “Traditional beauty of Vietnamese culture”. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected Huong pagoda festival as one of the six key festivals of the year. A ceremony to release fish into Yen Stream, a photograph exhibition called “Vietnamese ancient pagodas,” cherry tree planting and cultural and arts performances were the highlights of the opening ceremony. The organising board said around 1.5 million visitors will go to the festival, up 8 percent from last year. Head of the festival organizing board, Nguyen Van Hau:“We have initiated incinerators as a waste treatment technique and protect the environment. The environment police force and healthcare center have cooperated to ensure good environment and social order during the festival.”

Vietnamese Youth Association branch in Quang Ngai province has launched a spring festival for the youth. The association branch chief, Dang Minh Thao said participants have enjoyed traditional games and networking:“This is an opportunity for youth members to promote their soft skills and integrate in an active society. The event includes game shows and free treat of local specialities.”
