The event was held online connecting Hanoi and 63 localities nationwide as part of activities to mark the upcoming 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory, May 7, 2024.

Mr. Thuong said the fundraising demonstrates Vietnamese people’s spirit of humanity, kindness, mutual support, sense of responsibility, and paying gratitude to the ethnic groups in Dien Bien, who made great sacrifice and contributions to the national liberation.

Mr. Thuong called on businesses, agencies, organizations, individuals, civil servants, soldiers of armed forces, members of mass organizations, and overseas Vietnamese to uphold the tradition of solidarity, mutual support, and paying gratitude make the program a success.

“I’m very glad to know that we have raised fund to build 5,000 houses so far. I hope that we will do a little more to complete the target of building 8,000 charity houses,” the State leader said.

At the launch, agencies, organizations, and individuals from the central to local levels promised to donate 10.6 million USD. The Voice of Vietnam committed 2,200 USD to the fund.
