(VOVworld)- The Swiss Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City was inaugurated on Tuesday in the presence of Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Didier Burkhalter and Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Hua Ngoc Thuan.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Swiss foreign affairs chief said that the opening of the Swiss Consulate General in Vietnam's largest economic hub symbolizes the important development and expansion of  bilateral ties.

He affirmed that the new representative office will boost economic exchanges between the two countries, actively supporting Swiss enterprises’ operations in Vietnam.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Hua Ngoc Thuan stated that the city will always welcome Swiss leaders, businesses and people. He also pledged to coordinate with the Swiss Embassy and Consulate General to speed up bilateral co-operation programs and projects in order to foster friendship and multi-faceted co-operation between Vietnam and Switzerland.
