(VOVWORLD) - The Syrian army captured 20 villages in eastern Aleppo province after high-casualty battles with ISIS militants, the Syrian SANA news agency reported on Monday.

Many IS leaders from Iraq, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, and about 2,000 IS fighters were killed or wounded. On Monday, the Syrian army said they had killed or wounded 3,000 IS militants in Aleppo operations, recapturing more than 28 villages and the Jarrah air base.
