Thousands of people with disabilities in dioxin-affected areas to receive rehabilitation

(VOVWORLD) - A project to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in areas heavily affected by Agent Orange/Dioxin was launched on Wednesday in the southern province of Binh Phuoc.

Within the project’s framework, about 3,160 PWDs will receive rehabilitation treatment and 3,340 will receive care services.

The project focuses on expanding medical support and rehabilitation services and social services, improving the health and quality of life of PWDs, increasing support for social integration, and enhancing the overall capacity to manage and implement support for PWDs at all levels. It will be carried out in 11 localities across Binh Phuoc Province from June 2024 to November 2026, with funding of over 3.8 million USD.

The project’s launch was jointly held by the National Action Center for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET), the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
