(VOV) – Defending champion Nguyen Tien Minh defeated Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan (China) in the final match of the US Open Badminton Championship in New York early Monday.

Minh was the number 1 seed and Chou number 2 seed in the tournament. In the first set, the Taiwanese player made an impressive start, widening the gap at 13-6 at a time. Minh fought back hard and scored the two decisive points in the last minutes to win 21-19. Chou won the second set 21-14. Minh won the last set with a tight score of 21-19.
