He said the visit of the French delegation will strengthen ties in trade, investment, transportation, energy, and sustainable development, and herald the long-awaited arrival in Vietnam of French President Francois Hollande: “The official visit to Vietnam by French President Francois Hollande has long been awaited. It’s necessary for both countries to continue improving ties and create milestones in major sectors. It will be great if French President visits Vietnam as soon as possible to acknowledge the historical relationship and strategic partnership, as well as the Francophone cooperation between the two countries”

According to Deguilhem, President Hollande has pledged to visit Vietnam before ending his tenure in May 2017.
