Top legislator calls on Samsung to continue long-term investment in Vietnam ​

(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue asked Samsung to continue long-term investment in Vietnam, affirming that Vietnam always strives to improve the business and investment environment, enhance competitiveness, and create the most favorable conditions for investors.

During Tuesday’s reception in Hanoi for Park Hark Kyu, President and Chief Financial Officer of Samsung Electronics, Chairman Hue said Vietnam pays special attention to protecting the legitimate interests of foreign investors, including Samsung. 

Regarding the global minimum tax rate of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Mr. Hue affirmed that relevant agencies of Vietnam have been proactively studying the issue in order to integrate it into local law.

He said that Vietnam respects OECD's global minimum tax commitment to ensure the legitimate interests of investors and the State. 

President and CFO Park said with the active cooperation of Vietnam, Samsung’s investment in the Southeast Asian nation is a sound decision.

Samsung’s export turnover reached 65 billion USD in 2022, and its accumulative investment in Vietnam has amounted to 20 billion USD, he said.

Vietnam has built a good investment environment for Samsung to continue to achieve successes through its long-term investment  in Vietnam, Mr. Park said.

He noted that Samsung will do its best to contribute as the largest and long-term investor in Vietnam.
