He added export-import turnover between Vietnam and Japan totaled 16 billion USD in the first four months of 2021, up 6% despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 50 companies attending the trade promotion event introduced vegetables, fruits, dry food, seafood, and beverages.

Makoto Nakamura, a trade expert with the Japan External Trade Organization, counseled Vietnamese producers and exporters to conform with Japan’s laws on food hygiene and safety. He said labels must include the product’s name, ingredients, storage information, exporter, expiry date, nutrition facts, and a warning of possible allergic reactions.
