Traditional craft village tourism festival underway

(VOVworld) - 19 provinces are displaying items in 300 booths at the 2013 traditional craft village tourism festival in Hanoi and the Red River Delta region, which runs from October 8 – 12. The festival is part of activities to celebrate the 2013 National Tourism Year and the 59th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day. Festival attendees will enjoy craft village exhibitions, introductions to tour programs and Hanoi’s cuisine, and folk performances. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Chairwoman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, said: The festival aims to preserve, honor, and develop traditional craft villages, especially to exploit their value to developing tourism sustainably and effectively. The festival will foster cooperation between foreign and domestic travel companies to stimulate tourism demands.

At the opening ceremony night, three specialties of the capital – pho (rice noodle soup), bun thang (vermicelli soup with chicken, pork, and egg), and bun cha (rice vermicelli with grilled meat and fish sauce) - received Asian Record’s certificates.
