Trump vows to double coronavirus testing in May in push to reopen the economy

(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump on Monday released his administration’s blueprint for State testing plans and rapid response programs.

This follows the release of Trump’s Opening Up America Again guidelines on April 16. The blueprint describes a partnership between Federal, State, local, and tribal governments, and the private sector. This roadmap will help States maximize testing capacity and protect the health and safety of their people as the US begins to reopen. Speaking at a meeting for the COVID-19 response task force at the White House, the President asked States to expand tests, establish surveillance systems for early detection of diseases, and search for people who had contact with patients based on tests. Earlier, scientists at Havard University said that the US needs at least 500,000 tests a day or 15 million tests a month.
