Addressing a press conference in Ankara, Minister Faruk said Russia and Turkey should keep restraint to handle the current issue and there remain many solutions to maintaining the interests of both nations.

The same day, Reuters cited Russian Lower House Speaker Sergei Naryshkin as saying that Russia has the right to make a military response and economic sanctions should be imposed on Turkey.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Russia has suspended visa-free travel for Turkish citizens from Jan. 1, 2016.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also refused Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s proposal to meet in Paris on Monday.
